What is ribbon mixer?
Ribbon mixer is a type of industrial blender or mixer used in various industries for the effivient mixing of materials. It consists of a U-shaped horizontal trough or container with a double helical ribbon agitator that rotates aroung a central shaft. The ribbon agitator has inner and oher helical ribbons, and as the shaft rotates, the ribbons move materials both radially and laterally, ensuring a thorough and consistent mixing process.
What are ribbon blender characteristics?
1. Design
U-shaped Trough: The mixing container has a U-shapes design, providing a larger mixing colume and facilitating easy loading and unloading of materials.
Double Helical Ribbon Agitator: Ribbon agitator consists of two helical ribbons wound around a central shaft. This design enhances the mixing efficiency.
2. Material Construction
Ribbon blenders are comonly construced from stainless steel, making them durable, corrositon-resistant and suitable for use in various industries.
3. Mixing Efficiency
The double helical ribbon agitator creates a fluidized mixing zone, ensuring that materials are thoroughly blender both vertically and horizonally. This results in a homogenous mixture.
4. Versatility
Ribbon blenders are versatile and can handle a wide rango of materials, including powders, granules and dry blends. They are used in industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, plastics and more.
5. Batch Processing
Ribbon blenders are typically used for batch processing. The operator loads the materials into the blender, and after mixing is complete, the mixture is diacharged for further processing or packaging.
6. Ease of Cleaning
Many ribbon blenders are designed for easy cleaning between batches. Some models have a split trough or a design that allows easy access to the internal components.
7. Optional Features
Ribbon blenders may have optional features such as spray nozzles for liquid addition, jacketed troughs for heating or cooling and various discharge options.
8. Sizes and Capacities
Ribbon blenders come in various sizes and capacities, ranging from small laboratory-scale blenders to large industrial blenders capable of handling substantial batch volumes.
