1. Basic Ingredients
Water-base Pressure Sensitive Adhesive : The main ingredient of the adhesive is water. It uses water as the dispersion medium and contains some water-soluble polymers and other additives such as acrylates or emulsions.
Pressure Sensitive Adhesive : It is usually based on organic solvents, and its main component is colloidal dispersion, which contains polymers, resins, additives, etc.
2. Solvent or Water Dispersibility
Water-base Pressure Adhesive : Because it uses water as the dispersion medium, this adhesive does not require organic solvents and is more environmentally friendly. During application and drying, moisture evaporates, causing the adhesive to form a sticky film.
Pressure Sensitive Adhesive: It is usually required to disperse and transfer the components of the adhesive. This can lead to the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), Requiring special attention to the environmental impact in some applications.
3. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)
Water-base Pressure Sensitive Adhesive : Since water is the primary dispersion medium, this type of adhesive typically has lower VOC emissions and is more environmentally friendly.
Pressure Sensitive Adhesive : It may produce higher VOC emissions due to the use of organic solvents, so water-base adhesives are preferred under some environmental regulations.
4. Application Fields
Water-base Pressure Sensitive Adhesive : Mainly used in applications such as paper, labels and tapes that require lower VOC and higher environmental requirements. Common water-base pressure sensitive adhesives include water-base acrylic pressure sensitive adhesives.
Pressure Sensitive Adhesive : Suitable for a variety of applications including labels, tapes, medical applications, packaging and industrial bonding.
